Starting with a 5:30pm puck drop on Feb 16 and ending with a 2-0 win against the Nassau Lions two days later, the Bantam 14U team played a set of heart stopping and nailbiting games at sectionals this past weekend. With 2 wins and 3 ties overall, 14U kept the matches pretty tight, playing five solid games, especially defensively.  Tristan Vega opened the scoring on Friday night’s game against the Long Island Lightning, and forwards Christian Vargas, Oscar Ball, and Connor McDonald continued the trend in subsequent games. Goaltender Jack Lambros, played tremendously. The highlight of the weekend was Saturday night’s game against GNY, a team that was undefeated this season until 14U shut them down, not giving GNY a lot of chances to score. The game ended in a 1-1 tie. GNY and Cyclones placed 1 and 2 in the league and will hopefully face each other again at States in Buffalo this coming March.
