The NYC Cyclones Squirt Major AA team advanced to the Semi-Finals at the Philadelphia Regional Silver Stick Tournament in West Chester, PA over Thanksgiving weekend 2016.  This tournament featured teams from NY, NJ, DE, and PA, with 12 teams competing in the Squirt AA division.

The NYC Cyclones had a very strong weekend, finishing the tournament ranked #3 in their division. They achieved two wins and a tie during the round robin and were ranked third in their division going into the playoffs. The team decidedly defeated the Hershey Bears 4-0 in the quarterfinal. The semi-final against the Woodbridge Wolfpack was a nail-biter, with the Cyclones losing 3-2 in overtime.

The tournament also highlighted our talented players. Four NYC Cyclones players ranked in the top 25 division point leaders out of 100 players in the division, with one of our players ranked #2 out of 100! Both NYC Cyclones goalies ranked in the top 5 division goalie leaders out of 16 goalies in the division. One of our goalies was ranked #1 in most saves in a single game (33 saves).

The players and parents had an awesome time off the ice during team meals and hotel hijinks.

Congratulations to our NYC Cyclones Squirt Major AA team and their coaches, Danny Genovese and Danny O’Brien. What really sets these coaches apart is their ability to provide tailored individual instruction to each and every player real time on the bench.  The team has grown tremendously as a unit and as individual players under their leadership.
